About Workroom
Made for designers who'd rather be designing
Workroom is the quiet engine that turns vision into shipped work — the business platform behind 6,000+ designers in more than 40 countries.
Trusted by the studios doing the work
Why we exist
Interior design is one of the few professions where world-class creative work is routinely managed with tools built for someone else — generic project apps, accounting software that's never heard of a sidemark, and the eternal spreadsheet. It mostly holds together at two or three people. At five, ten, fifteen — it breaks, and the principal becomes a full-time operations department.
We built Workroom around a simple conviction: the business side of a design firm should be entered once and used everywhere. A product clipped from a vendor site should become the spec, the proposal, the purchase order, the invoice, and the ledger entry — without anyone retyping it. When that happens, hours come back, errors disappear, and margins become something you manage instead of something you discover.
The reason that matters is not tidiness. It is that the person running the firm should be able to answer their own questions about money — what a project is really earning, what the hours are returning, what is owed and to which jurisdiction. Design businesses move faster than the people who normally hold those answers. A firm that has to wait a week for a callback prices the next year on last year's rate, and that decision reaches the team hired against the revenue, the trades booked around it, and the client at the other end of it.
Everything we ship serves that idea. Not more features for a longer list — fewer places for your firm's truth to live, and nobody standing between an owner and their own numbers.
What we believe
The principles behind the product
Designers first
Every workflow starts from how design firms actually operate — CFAs, sidemarks, install days — not how software wishes they did.
One source of truth
Data entered once, flowing everywhere. Double entry isn't a chore to speed up; it's a defect to eliminate.
Calm software
Your tools should lower the noise in your studio, not add to it. Fewer notifications, clearer answers, quieter Fridays.
Honest numbers
Profit isn't a year-end surprise, and it isn't someone else's to hold. The owner should read the real margin themselves, while there's still time to act on it.
Grow without chaos
Adding a fifth or tenth person should add capacity, not confusion. Systems — not heroics — are how firms scale.
Earn the switch
Changing platforms is a big ask. We repay it with real onboarding, real support, and a product that keeps improving.
The road so far
Built alongside the firms that use it
Born from a real studio's pain
Workroom started as an answer to the spreadsheet sprawl inside working design firms — procurement in one file, billing in another, truth in nobody's.
The platform filled in
Sourcing with the Web Clipper, purchase orders, estimates and invoicing, time tracking, client collaboration, and a direct QuickBooks Online sync — one connected system.
AI that reads your numbers
AI-powered financial analysis watches budgets, margins, and receivables across your projects and tells you what needs attention — before it costs you.
Deeper into your stack
Xero, Slack, Asana, and Trello integrations are on the way, alongside a growing App Marketplace — your whole stack, one source of truth.
"We're a design firm's back office, engineered like a product company. The best compliment we get is that Workroom disappears — and the work ships."
