Project management for interior design firms

Every project has a lot of moving parts.
Now they move together.

Workroom gives your team one place to see phases, tasks, owners, dates, products, purchasing, and time—without rebuilding the project story for every status meeting.

Trusted by the studios doing the work

Built around the way design firms work

From first concept to install day

01

Build your project rhythm

Use the phase names, task templates, owners, and dates that match how your studio already delivers work.

02

Let everyone see what is next

Designers, operations, and principals can work from the view that makes sense for their role—without creating separate plans.

03

Keep the context attached

Products, purchase orders, time, and project activity stay connected to the work they belong to.

Built for growing design teams

Stop being the router for your own firm

When every project question flows through the principal, growth stalls. Workroom keeps the answer attached to the work—so your team can move without waiting for another meeting, message, or spreadsheet.

01
Fewer status interruptionsThe team can see what changed, who owns it, and what happens next.
02
Answers stay with the projectTasks, products, purchasing, dates, and decisions share the same context.
03
Principals manage exceptionsReview what needs attention instead of routing every routine update.

Capacity planning

Say yes to the next project on evidence, not adrenaline

Workload rolls up per designer and per week, from the same tasks and time entries your team already creates. Before you commit to a new build, you can see exactly who has room in November — and what slips if nobody does.

  • Workload by person, week, and phase
  • Hours-against-fee visible while the project runs
  • Hiring decisions backed by utilization data, not gut feel

The phase list is where your process actually lives

Most firms describe their process the same way twice and run it three different ways, because the process exists in a proposal document and nowhere the work happens. New projects get set up from memory, which means they get set up differently.

Default phases pre-populate every new project, carrying the average duration your own finished projects actually took. Task templates hang off them, and auto-add creates the checklist the moment the phase appears. A project can still be edited freely — the defaults are a starting point, not a cage.

  • Phase sets per project type — residential, commercial, yours
  • Average durations drawn from finished work
  • Task templates with subtasks and dependencies
  • Auto-add creates tasks when a phase is added

Turn on auto-add and the task is created whenever that phase is added to a project of this type — so the checklist arrives with the phase instead of being remembered.

Questions we hear

Project management, specifically answered

Can we keep our own phase names and process?

Yes — phases are templates you define. Most firms start from our concept / DD / procurement / install default and rename or add phases (permitting, staging, punch list) to match how they already work.

How is this different from Asana or Monday?

Generic tools track tasks; they don't know what a spec, a CFA, or a sidemark is. In Workroom a task links to the product, PO, or invoice it's about, and vendor lead times feed your deadlines. You stop maintaining a parallel universe of copy-pasted context. (Asana and Trello integrations are coming for teams that keep them for non-project work.)

Do contractors and vendors need seats?

No. Seats are for the people inside your firm who actively work in Workroom. Vendor information and purchasing documents stay attached to the project without requiring every outside partner to become a software user.

Can we import active projects mid-stream?

Yes. Every migration tier covers active projects — clients, specs, open POs, and balances — so you don't wait for a "clean break" that never comes.

Run the project, then read what it earned

Phases, tasks, and time in the same record as the products and the money — so the plan and the margin never drift apart.
